To determine how many pets you will be able to stable, you need to add up the displayed skill for animal taming, animal lore, and veterinary.
| Combined Skill Points | Slots |
|---|---|
| 0-159.9 | 2 |
| 160-199.9 | 3 |
| 200-239.9 | 4 |
| 240.0+ | 5 |
| Additional slots | |
| 100 in Vet, Lore, or Taming | +1 |
| 110 in Vet, Lore, or Taming | +2 |
| 120 in Vet, Lore, or Taming | +3 |
| Having 120 in all 3 skills (vet, lore, taming) will allow you to stable up to 14 pets (5 for having 240+ combined skill, +3 for 120 lore, +3 for 120 vet, +3 for 120 taming). | |
Under this system, you can claim your pet from any stablehand. By saying "claim [petname]", you can claim specific pets without claiming any of the others. If you simply say "claim", you will only be able to claim as many pets as you have control slots available. If you say "claim list", you will receive a listing of all of the pets that you currently have stabled so that pets with multiple words in its name can be claimed. Friends of a pet cannot claim or stable those pets, only the owners of those pets can. If the pet is fighting anything, they must stop before the stablehand will accept them. A pet who has just finished fighting something may need to wait for its aggressor flag to wear off or be told to stop.
Once you pay your 30 gold, your pet is safely stabled for the rest of your character's life.
You should check the player run establishments on your shard. Many of the old blessed ones in Felucca have a stablehand. Otherwise, the Serpent's Hold stables near the bank is relatively safe. The fence around the back of the stables is only partially in guard protection.
